Collection: Outdoor Bonsai
The outdoor bonsai in this category are perfect as gifts or corporate gifts. These trees are between 4 and 8 years old and have been carefully shaped into true bonsai during that time. With proper care, they can last for decades and become more beautiful with each season. Each bonsai comes with comprehensive care instructions, so you can get started right away.
How to care for your outdoor bonsai:
Watering
Unlike regular garden or houseplants, bonsai are grown in shallow containers, leaving little room for water storage. Therefore, check the soil moisture regularly and water as soon as the topsoil begins to dry out slightly. How often this is necessary depends on factors such as pot size, substrate, tree species, and weather conditions. In warm or windy periods, this may even be necessary daily. Never allow the soil to dry out completely!
Location
Outdoor bonsai love plenty of sunlight and fresh air. Place them in a sheltered, bright spot where they're protected from strong winds. When choosing a species, consider its winter hardiness: some bonsai can stay outdoors year-round, while others require extra protection in winter (for example, by placing them in a cold greenhouse or shed). However, they should never be kept indoors for extended periods. Only tropical indoor bonsai can thrive in our living rooms.
Fertilize
During the growing season (spring and summer), your outdoor bonsai needs extra nutrition to stay healthy. Use special bonsai fertilizer, available in our webshop. Fertilize according to the recommended dosage for optimal growth and leaf development.
Pruning
To maintain your bonsai's shape, you can prune it year-round. For precision work, use sharp bonsai shears, but regular pruning shears will also suffice for thicker branches.
