The Satsuki azalea usually blooms in May. Although the blooming period can last about two weeks, the tree is usually at its most beautiful for about five days. At the end of the bloom, it is important to carefully remove the spent flowers and prepare the tree for the next blooming season.

The azalea is evergreen, but in winter and after blooming, the leaves may subtly change color to yellow or brown, as blooming demands a lot of energy from the tree.
