The Satsuki azalea usually blooms in May. Although the flowering period can last about two weeks, the tree is usually at its best for about five days. At the end of the flowering period, it is important to carefully remove spent flowers and prepare the tree for the next blooming season.
The azalea is evergreen, but in winter and after flowering the leaves may turn slightly yellow or brown because flowering requires a lot of energy from the tree.
