The Satsuki azalea usually blooms in May. Although the blooming period can last about two weeks, the tree is usually at its best for about five days. At the end of blooming, it is important to carefully remove the faded flowers and prepare the tree for the next blooming season.
The azalea is evergreen, but in winter and after blooming, the leaves may discolour slightly to yellow or brown, as blooming requires a lot of energy from the tree.
