The Satsuki azalea usually blooms in May. Although the blooming period can last about two weeks, the tree is usually at its most beautiful for about five days. At the end of flowering, it is important to carefully remove the faded flowers and prepare the tree for the next blooming season.

The azalea is evergreen, but in winter and after flowering, the leaves may discolour slightly to yellow or brown, as flowering demands a lot of energy from the tree.
