Juniperus chinensis is one of the most classic and versatile bonsai species, valued for its fine scale-like foliage, strong vitality and exceptional versatility in shaping. It responds well to pruning and traditional deadwood techniques, remains attractively green throughout the year and tolerates full sun provided there is sufficient air circulation. Thanks to its flexible branches and natural tendency toward elegant, dynamic lines, it is particularly well suited to styles such as moyogi, shakan and especially jin–shari accents that further emphasize its character.
