The Satsuki azalea usually blooms in May. Although the flowering period can last about two weeks, the tree is usually at its most beautiful for about five days. At the end of the flowering period, it is important to carefully remove the faded flowers and prepare the tree for the next flowering season.

The azalea is evergreen, but in winter and after flowering, the leaves may slightly discolor to yellow or brown, as flowering requires a lot of energy from the tree.
