The Satsuki azalea usually blooms in May. While the blooming period can last approximately two weeks, the tree is typically at its most beautiful for about five days. At the end of flowering, it is important to carefully remove the spent flowers and prepare the tree for the next blooming season.

The azalea is evergreen, but in winter and after flowering, the leaves may slightly discolor to yellow or brown, as flowering demands a lot of energy from the tree.
