The Carmona is also called Fukien Tea and is related to the tea plant. Small white flowers that grow easily enhance the charm of the glossy dark leaf. This bonsai is estimated to be about 8 years old.

This species is very popular due to its beautiful small white star-shaped flowers. The leaves are small, have a beautiful gloss and the tree has a very compact growth habit. The species is known as the Tea family from Fujian Province, hence its name: Fukien Tea. Trees from (sub)tropical regions are accustomed to a more or less constant annual temperature. Unlike trees from our climate, they do not need a dormant period with a temperature drop and leaf fall. This makes these species perfectly suited to be kept indoors. In summer, at temperatures above 15 degrees Celsius, they can also do well outside on the terrace, for example. In general they will thrive better outside in summer due to the better climatic conditions (humidity, light and fresh air).
