Collection: Buy a Bonsai
The bonsai trees in this category are suitable for indoor display and are ideal for both beginner and experienced enthusiasts. They are also very popular as gifts or corporate presents. Most specimens are around 4 to 8 years old (more expensive trees are often older) and have been shaped into Bonsai during that time. With proper care, they can flourish for decades!
With every bonsai we ship, we include comprehensive care instructions.
Looking to buy indoor Bonsai trees? Here's the basic care:
Watering: Unlike normal houseplants, Bonsai trees are placed in small pots. This means there is little space to store water, and regular watering is necessary. However, how often this is needed depends on factors such as pot size, substrate, tree species, and climate. Therefore, do not water every 'x' number of days, but observe: water your Bonsai tree thoroughly as soon as the soil begins to dry out slightly. They should never be completely dry.
Location: Indoor Bonsai (mostly tropical trees) love plenty of light, high humidity, and a constant temperature. Make sure you choose a tree species that suits your wishes, specifically: do you want to place the Bonsai indoors or outdoors? All Bonsai in this category are suitable for indoor placement all year round and can also be placed outdoors from late spring to early autumn.
Fertilizing: Indoor Bonsai trees should be fertilized during the growing season (for outdoor trees this is spring and summer, for indoor trees all year round) to replenish essential nutrients. You can use the food/fertilizer from our online store for this, either liquid or solid fertilizer such as Biogold.
Pruning: Pruning to maintain the overall tree shape can be done throughout the year. A special branch shear is handy, but a regular household and garden shear can also be used for pruning twigs.
Tree Species: In our assortment, you will find five of the most beloved tree species suitable for indoor display: the Zelkova, Ficus, Ligustrum, Zanthoxylum, and Carmona. The first four species, in particular, are known for their strong character and easy maintenance, making them perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to enjoy a bonsai without worries. The Carmona as a bonsai tree requires a little more attention but surprises with beautiful flowers and graceful growth. This way, we offer a bonsai for every style and experience level that truly suits you.
